Automation Designator

Forges a designator that marks blocks for automation — when a matching sensor fires, each marked block activates in order.

Pattern

Hover a tile to name it. Reading pattern diagrams explains the symbols.

3 × 3, 2 layers high. Drawn flat on the ground, facing any compass direction.

  • Signature block × 4
Each arm holds a Tier 1+ block other than the Tier block, or stays empty (air or Tier 0). Read by compass direction, the arms spell the rune’s signature.
  • Air or a Tier 0 block × 5
Leave these as air, or fill them with Tier 0 blocks such as dirt or stone.
  • Activation block
The glowing cell is the one to click.
  • Spent
Cells with a corner mark are used up when the rune wakes.

Keys

  • Deepslate Gold Ore or Gold Ore × 4
    spent when the rune wakes
Takes Deepslate Gold Ore, Gold Ore.
    /runic build places Gold Ore.
  • Redstone Dust × 5
    spent when the rune wakes

How it works

The Automation Designator marks blocks for sensors to wake. Build it with your signature in its four arms, hold any item, and right-click the heart. The pattern burns away, signature and all, and the item becomes a designator with one charge. Build it again and wake it with the same item to add a charge, up to five.

Right-click a block with the designator to mark it. Block designated. Matching sensors will activate magic here. Each mark spends one charge. When a sensor with the same signature fires, every marked block wakes in the order it was marked.

Only the player who marked a block can change its mark. Others hear This block holds another mage's designation; only its maker may change it.

What a mark can wake

Marks are permanent. A Tier 3 or higher Dispel clears them.

See Automation for sensors and tips.
