Stair Master

A station that climbs as it builds — one block up for each block out, at a width set by Tier.

Pattern

Hover a tile to name it. Reading pattern diagrams explains the symbols.

5 × 5, one layer. Drawn flat on the ground, facing any compass direction.

  • Tier block × 1
Every T is the same block, and that block’s Tier sets the rune’s strength.
  • Signature block × 4
Each arm holds a Tier 1+ block other than the Tier block, or stays empty (air or Tier 0). Read by compass direction, the arms spell the rune’s signature.
  • Activation block
The glowing cell is the one to click.
  • Spent
Cells with a corner mark are used up when the rune wakes.

How it works

The Stair Master builds a staircase as it climbs. Set one redstone torch in one of the four signature slots to point the climb. Wake it, and the pattern is spent as it reshapes into a U of redstone, opening toward the torch. The rune reshapes into a waiting U. Each block placed at its heart climbs at 45°, 3 wide.

Place blocks at the heart of the U. Each block is carried out to the end of the stair, which rises one block for each block out. Each block spends one charge. The stairs climb (15 charges left).

The stair's width is one plus twice the Tier, from 3 blocks at Tier 1 to 15 at Tier 7, and it can climb up to 64 blocks out.

Good to know

  • Only one signature slot may hold a torch. Place exactly one redstone torch in a signature slot to point the climb.
  • Breaking every wire of the U ends the station.
  • It stays cold inside a Danger Ward.

Tips

Place stairs at the heart, facing up the climb, for a staircase you can walk.
