Portal Hex

A hex for waypoints: deposited on a destination's heart with a curse, it greets each arrival with that curse.

Pattern

Hover a tile to name it. Reading pattern diagrams explains the symbols.

5 × 5, one layer. Drawn flat on the ground, facing any compass direction.

  • Tier block × 4
Every T is the same block, and that block’s Tier sets the rune’s strength.
  • Air or a Tier 0 block × 4
Leave these as air, or fill them with Tier 0 blocks such as dirt or stone.
  • Activation block
The glowing cell is the one to click.
  • Spent
Cells with a corner mark are used up when the rune wakes.

How it works

The Portal Hex greets travelers with a curse. Hold a plain diamond and right-click the obsidian heart. The whole rune is spent, and the diamond carries the hex.

Bind a curse to the same diamond, then sink both into the centre block of a Waypoint. Every traveler who arrives at that Waypoint takes the curse. Each victim spends one charge.

Tips

Pair it with a Babel Curse at a public Waypoint for a prank, or with a Lightning Trap to guard a private one.

See Hexes and curses.

Configuration

These are the defaults in plugins/Runic/runes/portalhex.yml. Every rune file also carries the shared settings described in Rune files.
