Domain
A Domain claims a box of land for its owner. Inside it, only the owner and the guests they name may build, and visitors cannot start new magic. A beacon at its centre governs the claim for as long as it stands.

The Domain is a five-by-five-by-five lattice built around a beacon. Right-click the beacon to wake it. The Domain awakens — the land answers to you. The emerald, the iron, and the keys are spent. The beacon and its gold and diamond frame remain.
A Domain cannot stand on a Faith island, and it will not claim land inside a Keystone-warded island that belongs to someone else.
How big it is
A Domain measures its reach in sections, the sixteen-block cubes the world is divided into. It always holds the section around its beacon. Six key seats touch the beacon, one on each face: up, down, north, east, south, and west. Each seat sets how many sections the claim reaches in its direction:
- An empty seat reaches 1 section.
- A key of Tier 1 to 7 reaches as many sections as its Tier.
With every seat empty, a Domain covers three sections each way, a cube 48 blocks on a side. With six Tier 7 keys it covers 15 sections each way, 240 blocks on a side.
Sections line up with the world grid, so the claim's edges fall on multiples of sixteen. Set the beacon near the middle of its section, and the claim reaches about as far on each side of it.
Resizing
Place a Tier block in a key seat, then right-click the beacon or the new key. That direction takes the key's Tier as its new reach, larger or smaller, and the key is spent. The Domain's reach shifts (1 vector(s)). Seats left empty keep their reach.
A key that would stretch the claim into another mage's Keystoned island stays in its seat, and that direction keeps its old reach.
Who may do what
| Who | Inside the Domain |
|---|---|
| The owner | Builds, breaks, wakes runes, and governs the beacon. |
| Guests | Build, break, and wake runes. |
| Visitors | Cannot build: A Domain wards this place — you may not build here. Cannot start new runes: A Domain wards this place — new runes will not take root. Magic already standing still answers them. |
Staff with runic.domain.bypass | Build freely. The beacon stays closed to them: Bypass lets you build here, but not touch the Domain itself. |
Staff with runic.domain.admin | Govern any Domain's beacon, keys, and guests, as its owner would. |
Guests
Right-click the beacon while holding a player's head to add that player to the guest list. Alex may now build within this Domain. Do it again to remove them. Alex may no longer build within this Domain. A Domain holds up to 128 guests, and a server can change that with max-acl.
The land itself
An active Domain also guards its land from the world:
- Fire cannot start inside it on its own, and blocks inside it do not burn.
- Endermen and other creatures cannot take or change its blocks.
- Explosions still go off, and the blocks they break inside the claim return about five seconds later.
Breaking and waking
Break any of the gold or diamond frame and the ward sleeps. The Domain's frame is broken — its ward sleeps. While it sleeps, anyone may build on the land, and the Domain still remembers its owner, its size, and its guests. Rebuild the frame and right-click the beacon to wake it. The Domain stirs — its ward is whole again.
Break the beacon and the Domain is gone. The Domain collapses with its beacon.
The frame, the beacon, and the key seats answer only to the owner and Domain admins, even while the ward sleeps.
Faith islands and Domains
An island cannot rise, fly, turn, or transfer through a Domain you do not hold. Pegasus will not fly through a Domain you do not hold. Plan island routes around other mages' claims.
Qixsilver Reservoir
The Qixsilver Reservoir, on 1.21.9 and newer, is a fuel chest attended by copper golems. Raise it inside a Domain you own. The Qixsilver Reservoir awakens — lowest-Tier fuel will feed your Domain first.
Fuel-burning magic in the Domain draws from the Reservoir before its own fuel. That includes the Flight Field, Force Field, Levitation Obelisk, Heavy Core Anchor, Memento, and True Name.
Sneak and right-click the chest to choose the order: lowest Tier first, highest Tier first, or idle. A plain click opens it. As the Reservoir's copper weathers, each fuel block goes a little less far, up to three percent less when fully oxidized.
Faith islands have their own version, the Wellspring, raised inside a Keystoned island.
