Faith islands

The Faith rune tears a sphere of land free and makes it an island. The rest of the Faith school works on that island: flying it, turning it, warding it, and carrying it across the world. Most Faith runes must stand inside an island to wake. The whole Pegasus must stand within a faith island's reach.

Raising an island

  • Tier block × 4
Every T is the same block, and that block’s Tier sets the rune’s strength.
  • Air or a Tier 0 block × 8
Leave these as air, or fill them with Tier 0 blocks such as dirt or stone.
  • Activation block
The glowing cell is the one to click.
  • Spent
Cells with a corner mark are used up when the rune wakes.

Build Faith on the ground with Tier blocks on its edges and gold at its corners and centre. Gold cannot be the Tier material: Gold cannot carry Faith — draw the pattern in another Tier material. With an empty hand, right-click the key on top of the gold centre, or the gold centre itself if you leave the key out.

The pattern's Tier sets the island's radius:

    Tier1234567
    Radius in blocks46811121323

The optional key on top sets how high the island rises, from the key block's own Tier:

    Key Tier1234567
    Rise in blocks326496128160192256

With a key, the sphere lifts into the sky. Faith tears the land free! A sphere of radius 8 rises 64 blocks. Without a key, the land stays where it is and becomes an island in place. Faith takes root — a sphere of radius 8 is now an island.

The island's Tier is the Tier of the Faith that raised it, and the mage who raised it is its owner.

    What stops an island

    MessageCause
Bedrock bars the way — the land will not rise. The sphere holds bedrock.
Diamond anchors pin the sphere — it will not move.A block of diamond sits inside the sphere.
The sky above cannot receive the island. The space above is full.
Faith refuses — the island would reach the world's build limits. The island would rise past the top of the world.
Faith will not rise through a Domain you do not hold.Another mage's Domain covers the land.
This land already floats on faith. The heart already stands inside an island.

A block of diamond is an anchor for every Faith rune. While one sits inside an island, Pegasus, Gyre, the Transfer Portal, and Rubrik all refuse to move it.

Pegasus flies its island across the sky. Build it on the island around a gold heart, then give it fuel in one of two ways:

    • Hold a Tier block and right-click a face of the gold heart. The island flies away from the face you clicked: click the top and it sinks, click the east face and it flies west.
    • Seat up to three Tier blocks in the fuel slots around the heart and right-click it with an empty hand. Each fuel pushes the island toward its own side, and the pushes add up. Fuels that sit directly across from each other cancel, so Pegasus refuses them. Pegasus will not take fuels that sit directly across from each other.

Each fuel carries the island a distance of the rune's Tier, squared, times the fuel block's Tier. A Tier 3 Pegasus with a Tier 2 fuel block flies 18 blocks. A Tier 7 Pegasus with a Tier 7 fuel block flies 343.

Pegasus finds no island of faith beneath the rune. means the rune stands outside any island. The flight path must be clear of obstacles the width of the island. Obstacles block the flight path — Pegasus will not pass through.

    Gyre

Gyre turns an island a quarter turn on the spot. Its heart decides the direction: an emerald block turns the island clockwise, a redstone block turns it counterclockwise. The wheel stays, so you can turn the island again a moment later. Skyhold turns ninety degrees. The wheel remains.

    Faithpoints and the Transfer Portal

A Faithpoint is a landing pad named by its signature, like a Waypoint. Right-click it with an empty hand to attune it. Faithpoint attuned. Portals and teleporters matching this signature may travel here.

Build a Faith Transfer Portal on an island with the same signature. The first touch binds it to the Faithpoint. The portal drinks the signature — the faithpoint is remembered. Each touch after carries the whole island to the Faithpoint, where it settles above the pad. The portal reaches Faithpoints of its own Tier or lower, and can cross worlds unless the server forbids it.

    Rubrik

Rubrik infuses a book. Right-click any block of an island with the infused book and the island folds into its pages. The island folds itself into the book (1342 blocks). The book needs a Tier at least as high as the island's. Right-click somewhere else with the full book to set the island down again. The pages empty into the sky — the island manifests (1342 blocks).

Topsy Turvy and the Faith Wrencher

Topsy Turvy flips a sphere of terrain across the plane it was drawn on, and works on islands too. The Faith Wrencher moves an island's magic and leaves its land in place: hold a diamond and strike a face, and the island's registered sphere shifts one block away from that face. Use it to centre the sphere over the land.

    While an island moves

During a move, magic at the island's old place and its new one holds still. The rune stays cold — a faith transfer is underway. An island also refuses to pass through a Domain you do not hold.

These follow the island when it moves: runes and other bound magic on it, Recall items bound on it, and beds and respawn anchors set on it.

Pegasus and the Transfer Portal leave a brief wave of glass where the island leaves and arrives. Build Molt on the island to keep that glass away, and click its end rod to change your mind.

    Keeping an island

    RuneWhat it does
Faith DesignatorNames the island with the text on a sign. The name appears in Pegasus and Transfer messages. Only the gold is spent.
KeystoneBinds a lodestone that wards the island from strangers. Only the owner may set one.
ShellCloses a hollow sphere around the island, tinted face by face from the blocks beside its gold. A second click opens it again.
TitheAn offering chest. Anyone may give, only the island's owner may take, and a thief is scorched for trying.
WellspringA fuel chest for the island's magic, raised inside a Keystoned island you own. Needs 1.21.9 or newer.
DoubtEnds an island's faith. The blocks stay where they are.

    Keystone

The Keystone scaffold burns away and leaves its lodestone. While it stands, strangers cannot build on the island or wake runes there, and a Shell on it is warded too. A Keystone wards this faith — you may not build here.

To let a friend in, right-click the lodestone while holding their player head. The Keystone remembers Alex — they may build and use runes on this faith. Do the same again to turn them back into a stranger. Break the lodestone to end the ward. The Keystone unravels with the lodestone.

    Wellspring

The Wellspring is a chest that feeds fuel to the magic on its island, much as a Qixsilver Reservoir feeds a Domain. Copper golems attend it. Sneak and right-click the chest to choose which fuel goes first: lowest Tier, highest Tier, or none. A plain click opens it.

    Doubt

Build Doubt on the exact heart of the island, at the same Tier as the island, and wake it with an empty hand. Doubt takes hold — the island's faith unravels. The land and any runes on it stay. Only the island itself is gone.

    Islands inside islands

Islands may overlap, as long as each Faith's heart stood outside every other island when it was raised. A rune on overlapping islands acts on the smallest island that holds the whole rune. Between two islands of the same size, the older one wins.

    For staff

Salvation stores the smallest island around it in an archive, keyed by signature, and erases it from the world. Redemption raises a stored island again above its altar.
